Tradesy.com & Telling if a bag if Real or Fake. : r/handbags

Unlike EBay, Tradesy will check authenticity of a bag if a buyer thinks their bag may be a fake. Tradesy uses an authenticity service that checks to see if the bag is authentic. The buyer has to send their bag to Tradesy to use that service. If the item is determined to be a fake: The Authentication Team will reach out to the buyer via email for the verdict. If the item is found to be a definite fake or if its authenticity could not be determined, the buyer will receive a full refund for the counterfeit item. I just thought I would share my experience dealing with Tradesy on known counterfeits. First, a disclaimer: I love Tradesy's model and I sell and buy on there. But.. their loyalty to buyers and authenticity only seems to go so far.

I bought a bag from there and had it authenticated after and it was legit. I believe they’ve gotten a lot better about checking for authentication. But if you aren’t sure I’d just get it authenticated after and if it’s fake then you can report it to Tradesy. They can't limit you to 4 days if you were sold a fake bag. Give them a call, let them know you suspect it's fake and I suggest you have it authenticated before making a claim that it's absolutely counterfeit. I was confident that my bag was a fake and I’d get my money back BUT I’d heard horror stories online about how people were sent fakes and Tradesy still said that the fake item was real. Recently, I bought another bag with direct shipping. I had doubts about whether it was real or fake, as there were signs of wear that were not shown in the photos. That said if the item is actually misrepresented (not just a return because you didn't like it), they do give you your money back instead of credit.
