The 15400 is now your standard Royal Oak, sized at 41mm instead of 39mm, and we see the addition of a new 37mm unisex Royal Oak, with reference number 15450. Both watches will AP's in-house 3120 self-winding movement. To make it easier to understand, we've prepared the following visual aid. Had a black dial 15400, but traded for a 15300 because I felt like the 41 was slightlyyyyy to large for my wrist and I can say the fit and feel of the 15300 on my size wrist made a world of difference.
I’m currently debating between a steel 15400 and a 15510 for my first Royal Oak. I’m not a huge fan of the 15500 so would consider that one ruled out. I know the 15510 has the upgraded movement and other tweaks, but I’m curious hearing from others who have either owned or handled both what your honest thoughts are. The big news from Audemars Piguet is a working prototype of this guy, and we're gonna get to that, but first here is a quick update. The standard Royal Oak, reference 15400, is now available in a two-tone case.Rubber B has 2 lines of watchbands for the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15400 vs 15500. The difference is based on whether you have a steel band or a leather band. For steel band owners, Rubber B has come out with the strap for Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 41mm on Metal Bracelet – Velcro® Series .
Upon close inspection of the crown on both references, we noticed that the crown on ref. 15400 is thinner/flatter than on ref. 15300. The water resistance rating of this watch is identical to that of ref. 15300 at 50m making it perfectly suitable for showering, swimming and even snorkeling.
