Consider it this way: Luminor Marina/Base (Betterini - 590), Luminor Marina 1950 (673), Radiomir (424) & now a Radiomir 1940 as in the 587 and it matches or compliment your present 673 perfectly. The Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days, or more affectionately known amongst Paneristis simply as the PAM 372 (PAM372), was first seen at SIHH 2011. It has since gone on to become one of the most popular Panerai models.The 372 is certainly not in that category; it looks great in photos and on the wrist it really is better. 47mm certainly makes for a very large watch, but I believe small to average wrist sizes can pull it off. While the Radiomir-like cushion case is vintage-Panerai inspired, the 47mm diameter is clearly contemporary and will make both Panerai and over-sized watch fans in general very happy. Between the case lugs of the PAM372 is one of the nicest OEM leather straps I've had the pleasure of testing.
The 372 is more comfortable however because it's much lighter. Even on strap, the BB is heavier. An obvious question, is why doesn't Panerai make a watch identical in every way to the original 6152-1? Who knows, maybe one day, the will? My best guess is that Panerai tried to make the PAM 372 more comfortable and more universally appealing. Get the 587. 372 will always be there.
